During the October 2015 half term a group of students from Saint Aidan’s visited Moscow and St Petersburg. Whilst in Moscow they explored various museums, learnt about the Russian space programme, watched the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as well as having a tour round the Kremlin and the Armory.
A highlight of the trip had to be the overnight sleeper train to St Petersburg which everyone agreed to be a most beautiful city. The Church of Our Savior of the Split blood, St. Isaac’s Cathedral, Peter & Paul’s Fortress as well as an excursion to the State Hermitage added to the experience of a quite different culture. In addition, students visited a Russian school and enjoyed a question and answer session about one another’s lives. The Russian folk show was highly entertaining especially when the performers invited our students to join in the dancing.
It was a truly memorable trip which our students will take with them throughout their lives
