Tower Wood 2015

The Tower Wood trip took place in September 2015 where 27 GCSE Sport pupils went to the Lake District and stayed at Tower Wood Outdoor Education Centre as part of their GCSE practical assessment. They stayed for 5 days in which they had to undergo an intense Kayaking course performing various skills and then taking on a journey kayaking the length of Lake Windermere or Coniston. They were assessed on their Journey expedition and then on the last day they had to perform all the skills learnt for a controlled assessment. This not only helps the pupils to gain a mark towards their practical assessment for their GCSE mark it also enhances various life skills such as teamwork, social skills, organisation, character building, self-confidence, self-esteem, new challenges and living away from home. This is a great opportunity for pupils to get out of their comfort zone and try something new that could even benefit them for their GCSE mark.
