Gear Up for Christmas
As Christmas Day rapidly approaches, students and staff get into the festive spirit
Over the past few weeks, Saint Aidan’s students have slowly been preparing for Christmas, not only through the Operation Christmas Child boxes they created in forms but through Christmas Card Competitions and the School’s annual Christmas Fair.
Each year, students battle it out with their pens and pencils to win the accolade of having created the Saint Aidan’s Christmas card. The card, which is sent out to friends and members of the Saint Aidan’s community, is drawn and illustrated solely by the students. This year there were 146 entries. After a hotly fought contest, the school’s Christmas Card Competition was won by Karla Pearson with Ella Silvester and Jake Wong coming runners up.
Not only this, but the festive spirit was bulging from the school hall on Saturday 26th November, even if it wasn’t quite December. The school’s PTA organised the annual Christmas Fair, and with plenty of festive entertainment, mulled wine and the band performing Christmas carols, it is no wonder that the event raised £2500 for the school.
With many more festivities to come, including the Christmas Jumper Day, charity event, the Senior Citizens Christmas Party, the Year 7 Christmas Disco, the Carol Service and the school’s Christmas Eucharist, there is certainly lots to look forward to for everyone in the Saint Aidan’s community during December.
