GCSE Results 2018

Lots of very nervous students arrived at school on 23rd August, ready to collect their GCSE results slips.  Most of the courses were new this year, and many of them had been made more difficult, but they need not have worried as they were even better than last year’s overall, with some amazing individual performances too.

This year’s best results went to Alex Vojtko-Proctor, who achieved eight GCSEs at Grade 9, which is even higher than the old A* grade.  He was closely followed by Jack Dennehy, Abi Hargreaves and Kate Jenkinson who all achieved 10 GCSEs at Grades 7-9 / A*-A.

There was strength across the board too – 83% of students achieved at least Grade 4 (C grade equivalent) in English and 80% in Maths, and Science results were the best the school has ever seen.  The “Attainment 8” score rose from 49 last year (which was well above local and national averages) to 51 this year.  All subjects count towards this figure, which based on last year’s results across the county is likely to put us in the top 20% of Lancashire schools.

Mr Smith, Headteacher, said “These superb results are a just reward for the huge amounts of hard work put in by these students and also by their teachers.  They should be proud of what they have achieved and can move onto the next stage of their education with a lot of confidence.”
