Aiming High for Toby

By

Year 10 student Isobel Woodier and her former-student brother, Zach, are taking part in an amazing fundraiser for their brother, Toby.  Read on for the fabulous story and find out how we can help.

Toby has a rare genetic disorder called Syngap1, is non-verbal and has a severe learning disability. He attends Pear Tree Special School in Kirkham. He has been given the incredible opportunity to try a pioneering new treatment in Mexico which has been successful on around ten other children with gene mutations.

The family are desperate to give Toby this chance, but need £45,000 to cover the costs.  Money has already started to come in, but to boost this Isobel and Year 10 friend Ruby are doing a sponsored walk on the Pleasure Beach’s Big One to raise more!

Later in the year, Zach will be taking things a step further by taking part in a sponsored sky dive!

Zach said, “I would love to get my little brother to Mexico for this treatment and will help in any way including jumping out of a plane!”

Isobel added, “Hearing Toby talk would be amazing! We really need to get him to Mexico!”

We’ll be using some of our Non-Uniform money to help the fundraiser but, if you would like to help the family too, further information about donating can be found here:
