Over the past two years, in memory of her beloved Uncle, Darcy Embery of form K7 has been raising money for Rosemere Cancer Foundation. Her first event was in November of 2023, when she organised a Horse Hunt at the family farm, also serving refreshments including beautiful homemade cakes raising an amazing £1,500. Since then, after her form tutor had treatment at Rosemere, along with her peers she has helped to raise more than £1,100.
On Thursday, 27th March Darcy and her family were invited to an evening of thanks, hosted by Rosemere Cancer Foundation, where she was awarded the Young Fundraiser of the Year award.
When reflecting on her achievement Darcy said, ‘lots of people were nominated for this award, with their great achievements, I am so proud to have been chosen as the overall winner’.
Mrs Rossall was also at the evening of thanks and was delighted to experience Darcy’s great fundraising efforts being recognised by this award, she  said ‘ I am so proud of Darcy and the efforts she makes to raise money for this wonderful charity that supports so many people, including myself and my family’.
Rosemere Cancer Foundation works to bring world class cancer treatments and services to cancer patients from throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria. Treatment is at Rosemere Cancer Centre, the region’s specialist cancer treatment and radiotherapy centre at the Royal Preston Hospital, and at another eight local hospital cancer units across the two counties, including that at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
The charity funds cutting-edge equipment, clinical research, staff training and innovative services and initiatives that the NHS cannot afford in order to make patients’ cancer journeys more effective, comfortable and stress-free.
