Edexcel Business Studies GCSE 1BSO Specification
Students are given the opportunity to study the academic GCSE Business Studies.
Option students cover the programme of study provided by Edexcel(1BSO), with a departmental adaptation of the work into suitable schemes of work to match the opportunities available.
The course involves learning about the world of business through real and relevant local and international brands. It gives students the opportunity to communicate and explain ideas, think creatively, and make decisions, and work with numbers to solve business problems.

• What makes a successful business?
• How do we develop an idea, spot an opportunity, and turn it into a successful business.
• How do we make a business effective, manage money
• How does the world around us affect small businesses and all the people involved.
How its assessed
· Written exam 1hour 30mins – which includes exploring case studies and the current business environment.
· 50% of GCSE
Paper 2: Theme 2: Building a business.
What’s assessed?
• How does a business develop beyond the start-up phase?
• Key business concepts and issues and decisions you need to make when growing a business and working in a global business.
• How do we meet customer needs?
• How doe we make marketing, operational, financial, and human resourcing decisions?
• How does the wider world impact businesses as they grow?
How its assessed
· Written exam 1hour 30mins – which includes exploring case studies and the current business environment.
